Can I sue the post office for negligence?

Did you slip or fall in a post office? Trip at a post office? Have a car accident caused by a postal vehicle? If you are injured due to the negligence of the Post Office you can sue them, but must follow proper protocols under the Federal Tort Claims Act. If you are injured due to the negligence of the United States Post Office, and wish to obtain compensation, you must file a claim with the Post Office within two years after the claim accrues. It is suggested by that you utilize Standard Form 95 prescribed by the Department of Justice to file your claim, though it is not required that you use that form as long as the claim you file has the required information. Once you file the claim the Post Office has up to 6 months to rule on your claim. If the Postal Agency denies all or part of your claim, or does not rule within 6 months on your claim you can then commence a lawsuit. You do not have to commence the lawsuit until the Agency rules on it, but once they rule on it you MUST commence your lawsuit within 6 months of the ruling or you will lose your right to sue.
